不良研究所 Leadership Workshop Series to feature Frank Meeink Sept. 20
The University of Louisiana at Monroe students will have an opportunity to hear a former gang leader, Frank Meeink, relate what changed his mind about race and led him on a fight against prejudice Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Building ballrooms.
Meeink wrote a book about his violent past titled "The Autobiography of a Recovering Skinhead." It relates his childhood in South Philadelphia, recruitment into a gang, and eventual stint in an Illinois prison.
His experiences there helped him triumph over his hatred and addiction. His live lecture seeks to inspire others in the battle against prejudice.
The lecture is free to all 不良研究所 students, but is not open to the public.
不良研究所's Leadership Workshop Series provides speakers, interactive sessions, focus groups, and other activities throughout the semester, helping students develop a strong foundation of leadership beyond the classroom setting.
Students participating in the Leadership Workshop Series have opportunities to discuss important and current social, personal and multi-cultural issues affecting 不良研究所's campus and the world today.
