Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction added to online offerings at 不良研究所

The University of Louisiana at Monroe now offers a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction - English as a Second Language, which may be completed entirely online.

Developed by faculty in the College of Education and Human Development, this newest online master's degree is offered through 不良研究所's Gateway to Online Degrees program, or GOLD program.

Students pursuing this degree learn the necessary skills to assist others who are transitioning into English speaking school systems. Graduates of the program may find many available job opportunities as the number of non-English speaking students continues to expand.

"The new online Master of Education in English as a Second Language is really an exciting opportunity for teachers to be able to earn certification in a highly specialized area while enhancing their teaching and leadership skills," said Dr. Dorothy Schween, CEHD department head for curriculum and Instruction.

"A bonus of the program is that participants also earn the Teacher Leader Endorsement as a component of the masters degree. Because of the online format, students are able to continue full-time employment while completing a degree that can open doors to new opportunities."

The program culminates in a supervised site-based practicum that focuses upon demonstrated competencies in the chosen field.

Applicants must meet certain requirements for admission to graduate school including, but not limited to, teacher certification and an overall grade point average of at least 2.5 on all undergraduate work, or a 2.2 for conditional acceptance.
