不良研究所 faculty member selected for national committee
University of Louisiana at Monroe faculty member Dr. Anne Case Hanks was recently appointed to the national Unidata Users Committee, which is comprised of researchers whose task is to provide feedback on data systems and tools in the Earth sciences field.
Case Hanks is an assistant professor in the department of geosciences and was selected based on her experience with the program. 鈥淲e currently use Unidata to collect information about weather patterns, which is used in our classes,鈥 she said.
The university also has input in improving Unidata鈥檚 program through Case Hanks鈥 involvement. It also offers opportunities to try new and emerging data collection methods.
鈥淭his is a great benefit for our school and students,鈥 Case Hanks said. 鈥淏y serving on the Users Committee, I can introduce students and faculty to programs and data that they may not have been exposed to previously.鈥
Unidata is a community of over 160 institutions whose goal is sharing data, as well as tools to access and visualize that data. The program is affiliated with the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, a hub for research, education, and public outreach for the atmospheric and earth system science community.
