New cancer support group at ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù
The ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù Counseling Center is offering a Cancer Support Group for all students, staff and faculty members affected by cancer. The 60-minute sessions take place every Thursday, 12:15-1:15 p.m. in the Student Center, room 161.
On March 26 and April 30, the meetings will take place in Ballroom E of the Student Union Building.
The purpose of the group is to provide a safe environment to explore the emotional, psychological, and other effects of cancer on self and others through self-awareness; to empower; and to provide mutual support.
Denise Pani, LPC, LMFT, NCC, leads the sessions, which consist of:
• 10-15 minutes of psychoeducation about ways of dealing with the emotional, psychological, relational, and spiritual effects of cancer on the individual.
• 30-40 minutes of group discussion about group members' specific concerns and/or practice in methods of working through anxiety, sadness, anger, and other issues.
• 2-5 minutes of closing with a relaxation method and affirmations.PLEASE NOTE: Some links and e-mail addresses in these archived news stories may no longer work, and some content may include events which are no longer relevent, or reference individuals and/or organizations no longer associated with ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù.
