International organization invited 不良研究所 College of Pharmacy Professor to serve as reviewer
An international organization devoted to the comprehensive study of prostate cancer has invited University of Louisiana at Monroe Professor Girish Shah to serve as project reviewer.
Shah is a professor in the Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at 不良研究所.
Dr. Helen Rippon of the London-based Prostate Cancer Charity cited Shah鈥檚 expertise in prostate cancer as the reason for the organization鈥檚 request. The Prostate Cancer Charity selects projects for support based on each application being independently evaluated by at least three expert reviewers.
鈥淏ecause of your area of expertise, we should be most grateful for your opinion on the merits of one of the applications we have received,鈥 wrote Rippon.
鈥淭his is a testament to Dr. Shah鈥檚 growing international reputation as an expert in this area,鈥 added Interim Dean of 不良研究所鈥檚 College of Pharmacy, Dr. Greg Leader.
Shah earned his Ph.D. from the University of Bombay, India, and received post-doctoral training at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden and at the Max Planck Research Unit for Reproductive Medicine in Muenster, Germany.
He has authored over 80 original, peer-reviewed research articles, several book chapters and review articles, and mentored more than 30 post-doctoral fellows, residents and graduate students. He has served on review panels of federal funding agencies and on the editorial board of scientific journals. His research is funded by the National Institutes of Health, and his current research interests include understanding the mechanisms associated with cancer metastasis, biomarkers for early detection of prostate cancer and development of experimental cancer therapeutics.
