Biology department fall seminar series schedule announced; next occurs Nov. 7

不良研究所 Department of Biology has scheduled several educational seminars during the fall 2008 semester, with the next seminar occurring Friday, Oct. 31, at 1:30 p.m. in the Chemistry and Natural Science Building, room 101.

Dr. Chris Brantley, project manager for the Bonnet Carre鈥 Spillway, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will speak about 鈥淔orested Wetland Dynamics Receiving Treated Municipal Wastewater.鈥

All seminars normally begin at 1 p.m. on Fridays at the CNSB, room 101, except when indicated otherwise.

Next, Dr. Chris Brooks of Mississippi State University will discuss 鈥淯sing network models to predict disease dynamics鈥 Nov. 7.

On Nov. 14, Dr. Chris Taylor of Texas Tech University鈥檚 speech centers on 鈥淔ishes and flows: Long-term impacts of altered flow regimes.鈥 There is a location change for this seminar; it will occur in the 不良研究所 Museum of Natural History, located in Sandel Hall on the third floor.

Shannon Martin, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, will conduct the final fall 2008 biology seminar, titled 鈥淭he influence of salinity on reproduction in coastal freshwater fishes鈥 Nov. 21.
