Week of Welcome fun begins Aug. 15
Students arriving at the University of Louisiana at Monroe for the fall begin their semester with the fun-filled Week of Welcome, packed with activities scheduled from Aug. 15 – 22. All events are free to о students with ID.
Week of Welcome Highlights
Friday, Aug. 15:
Move-In Mania: 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the campus residence halls. о campus representatives will help the students move into their new homes.
Move-In Mania Lunch Social: 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Student Union Building Ballroom. Residential Life/JPI and the Campus Activities Board will provide a free lunch to о students with ID and guests as they take a break from moving in. For more information on CAB events, contact: (318) 342-5292.
Saturday, Aug. 16:
BCM Survival: 3 – 7 p.m. at the Baptist Collegiate Ministry. BCM will sponsor a free cookout with games, t-shirts and more. For more information, contact: (318) 343-4359.
PREP Reunion: 7:30 – 9 p.m. at the SUB Ballroom.
Sunday, Aug. 17:
Resident Meetings: 5:30 p.m. at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Students will meet with their Resident Assistants, administrators and student affairs staff.
Game Night: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Activity Center. Game Night includes food, games and prizes for о students with valid ID.
Monday, Aug. 18:
Maroon Platoon Draft: 8 a.m. – noon at the SUB Overhang. Incoming students will have the opportunity to join the very involved student group, Maroon Platoon.Prize Patrol: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. across campus.
Drive-In Movie: 9 p.m. at The Grove (beside Malone Stadium). CAB will provide popcorn and drinks for the “What Happens in Vegas” showing.
Tuesday, Aug. 19:
Maroon Platoon Draft: 8 a.m. – noon at the SUB Overhang. Incoming students will have the opportunity to join the very involved student group, Maroon Platoon.
Activity and Resource Fair: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the SUB Ballroom A. Students will meet о student organization representatives and find out about campus resources.
Lunch Social: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the SUB Ballroom.
Magician Nate Staniforth: 7 p.m. in the SUB Ballroom.
Wednesday, Aug. 20:
Maroon Platoon Draft: 8 a.m. – noon at the SUB Overhang. Incoming students will have the opportunity to join the very involved student group, Maroon Platoon.
Convocation March: 4:40 p.m. at the Kitty Degree Bell Tower. Students meet here first before marching to Convocation.
Convocation: 5 – 6 p.m. Students arrive at Fant-Ewing Coliseum for the official opening of the 2008-2009 school year.
Warhawk Social: 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Bayou Park (by Starbucks).
Thursday, Aug. 21:
Maroon Platoon Draft: 8 a.m. – noon at the SUB Overhang. Incoming students will have the opportunity to join the very involved student group, Maroon Platoon.
Warhawk Gladiator Challenge: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Bayou Park.
Warhawk Pizza Party: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Bayou Park.
The Wesley Foundation’s Coffee House: 7 – 10 p.m. at The Wesley Foundation. For more information, contact: 318-343-2944.
NPHC Informational: 6 p.m. at the SUB Ballroom. Students will meet the National Pan-Hellenic Council Greeks and obtain information for potential new members. For more information, contact: (318) 342-5289 or email hembree@ulm.edu.
Friday, Aug. 22:
Maroon Platoon Draft: 8 a.m. – noon at the SUB Overhang. Incoming students will have the opportunity to join the very involved student group, Maroon Platoon.
Spirit Day: 9 – 11:30 a.m. at The Quad (fountain/Scott Plaza area). Any student, alumni, staff member, or faculty member wearing maroon and gold will get a prize.
