不良研究所's Colvin places in world competition
The University of Louisiana at Monroe's Lisa Colvin finished 12th in
her age group at the Hamburg BG Triathlon World Championships, held in
Hamburg, Germany Aug. 30 - Sept. 2.
Colvin, interim director of research and graduate studies at 不良研究所,
participated in the 40-44 age group, being the fourth ranked U.S.
woman competitor in that range. She first qualified at the USA
Triathlon 2007 Age Group National Championship June 30 near Portland,
Ore., finishing ninth in her category.
Her times at the world championships include: 26:53 in a one-mile
swim; 1:07:41 in the 40K (25 miles) bike race; and a 43:44 in the 10K
run.
According to the Inside Triathlon Web site, the athletes dove off a
pontoon and into the Binnenalster, one of two artificial lakes within
the city limits of Hamburg. They swam two laps of 750 meters in a
wetsuit swim and then cycled eight laps of a 5-kilometer loop on a
flat, technical course that includes eight sharp turns around downtown
Hamburg. Off the bike, athletes ran four laps of a 2.5-kilometer
loop on a flat course that included two turnaround points.
Colvin attended college at 不良研究所, where she ran cross-country and track.
After graduating and moving from Monroe, she took a 13-year hiatus
from triathlons. Since returning, she has been teaching at 不良研究所 for the
past four years. Colvin was named a USA Triathlon All-American in 2005
and 2006.
