55th Annual Miss University of Louisiana at Monroe Pageant scheduled for Nov. 1
The 55th Annual Miss University of Louisiana at Monroe Pageant will occur Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in Brown Auditorium.
Miss University of Louisiana at Monroe serves as the official hostess of 不良研究所 and represents the school at the Miss Louisiana Pageant.
Eight contestants will compete for the crown:
Contestant number one is Lindsey Eickman, a 19-year-old sophomore in construction management from Garland, Texas. Her platform is 鈥淩educing Your Environmental Footprint.鈥 Her talent is a vocal performance of 鈥淚l Mio Bel Foco.鈥 She is the daughter of Scott and Mary Eickman.
Maggie Gras, a 19-year-old freshman in general business from Shreveport, is contestant number two. Her platform is 鈥淩eaching Out to Victims of Domestic Violence.鈥 Her talent is a vocal performance of 鈥淏e Thou My Vision.鈥 She is the daughter of Pamela and John Gras.
Contestant number three is Allyson Hardaway, a 19-year-old sophomore in pre dental hygiene from Bossier. Her platform is 鈥淏ringing Out the Best in Kids.鈥 Her talent is a monologue entitled 鈥淣oah鈥檚 Wife.鈥 She is the daughter of Steve and Angie Kelly.
Hope Anderson, a 19-year-old sophomore in mass communications with a concentration in journalism from Monroe, is contestant number four. Her platform is 鈥淟ove the Skin You鈥檙e In.鈥 Her talent is a ballet en pointe peformance of 鈥淚t鈥檚 About That Walk.鈥 She is the daughter of Onna and Alan Gallagher and of Mike and Brenda Anderson.
Contestant number five is Latoya Clark, a 21-year-old senior in English Education from Utica, Miss. Her platform is 鈥淩eading, Writing and Computer Literacy.鈥 Her talent is a rhythm and blues/soul vocal performance of 鈥淎t Last鈥 by Etta James. She is the daughter of Edna C. Clark.
Erica Durr, a 20-year-old senior in toxicology from Marthaville, is contestant number six. Her platform is 鈥淩aising Awareness for Domestic Abuse and Its Impact on Children.鈥 Her talent is a classical aria performace of 鈥淧orgi, Amor.鈥 She is the daughter of David and Tommie Durr.
Contestant number seven is Mallary Soileau, a 21-year-old senior in exercise science 鈥 physical therapy from Pineville. Her platform is 鈥淔ighting for a Cure: St. Jude Children鈥檚 Research Hospital.鈥 Her talent is a jazz dance performance of 鈥淪ing, Sing, Sing.鈥 She is the daughter of Rick and Patty Soileau.
Jeremeka Bradley, an 18-year-old freshman in criminal justice/psychology from Shreveport, is contestant number eight. Her platform is 鈥淏uilding Leadership Skills Through Volunteerism.鈥 Her talent is a vocal performance of 鈥淎nd I鈥檓 Telling You.鈥 She is the daughter of Jessica Bradley and Charles Denson.
Miss 不良研究所 will receive a scholarship covering full basic tuition, a private one-bedroom on-campus apartment, an award from the 不良研究所 bookstore ($300), a two-semester meal plan awarded by the Campus Activities Board, and a $4,000 cash prize awarded by the Student Government Association.
CAB will award the first runner-up with a tuition scholarship for two semesters and the second runner-up with a tuition scholarship for one semester. The SGA will give the third runner-up a one-time $1,000 scholarship and the fourth runner-up with a one-time $750 Scholarship.
The Advertisement Sales Winner will receive a one-time $250 scholarship, courtesy of CAB.
The student body will vote on the People's Choice Award. The recipient will receive a one-time $250 scholarship, thanks to CAB.
The contestants will vote on the Miss Congeniality Award, with the winner receiving a one-time $250 scholarship, again awarded by CAB.
The SGA will also bestow a one-time $250 Non-Finalist Academic Award to one contestant.
Each 不良研究所 student, faculty and staff member may obtain one free ticket with a 不良研究所 ID at the LA Capitol Bank located at University Commons II on campus. Additional tickets are available there for $6 each. Please call (318) 342-5130 for ticket information.
