²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù Homecoming Court announced
The ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù Homecoming Court, which has been selected through student votes, will be honored at ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù’s Homecoming football game when the Warhawks take on Florida International University in Malone Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. The queen will be crowned on Friday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m. during a pep rally located behind the Bayou Village Apartments. In case of inclement weather, the pep rally will be moved to Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
Members of the Homecoming court are:
Lynette Gregory, the daughter of Velma Brodnax, is a freshman political science major from Bastrop. Gregory’s activities and honors include Campus Activities Board, Up ‘til Dawn Logistics co-chair, Pre-Law Association treasurer, College Republicans, Maroon Platoon and Baptist Collegiate Ministry. She was nominated by CAB, Maroon Platoon and the National Beta Club and will be escorted by her uncle, Dr. Ken White.
Helen Claire Portman, the daughter of Johnny and Janet Portman, is a freshman undeclared major from Monroe. Portman’s activities and honors include Kappa Delta Sorority. She was nominated by Kappa Delta and Pi Kappa Alpha and will be escorted by her father, Johnny Portman.
Kennarius Giles, the daughter of Kenneth Jacobs and Felicia Giles, is a sophomore pre-radiologic technology major from Shreveport. Giles’ activities and honors include Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society 3.5 and up GPA. She was nominated by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and her sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha and will be escorted by her father, Kenneth Jacobs.
Katie Alexis Schaff, the daughter of Gregory and Jo-Marie Schaff, is a sophomore pre-pharmacy major from Ponchatoula. Schaff’s activities and honors include Kappa Delta, Dance Repertory Ensemble, Catholic Campus Ministries, Pre-Pharmacy Organization and ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù academic and talent grant scholarships. She was nominated by Kappa Delta and the Dance Repertory Ensemble and will be escorted by her father, a former ²»Á¼Ñо¿Ëù running back and
class of ’79 graduate, Gregory Schaff.
Savannah Korn, the daughter of Randall and Sharon Korn, is a junior pre-pharmacy major from West Monroe. Korn’s activities and honors include member of Alpha Lambda Delta, American Women in Science, Chi Alpha and SGA’s Promotions and Public Relations department head. She was nominated by the SGA and the Pre-Pharmacy Organization and will be escorted by her father, Randall Korn.
Krystal Mosely, the daughter of Willie and Thelma Mosely, is a junior kinesiology major from Shreveport. Mosley’s activities and honors include member and praise dancer for Mt. Mariah Baptist Church, SGA, NAACP, Campus Activities Board and the Association of Students in Kinesiology. She was nominated by the NAACP and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and will be escorted by her father, Willie Mosely.
Whitney Dionne Jones, the daughter of Alvin and Sandra Jones, is a senior communicative disorders major from Bastrop. Jones’ activities and honors include Lambda Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Greek Council President, Miss NAACP 2006-2007, vice president of National Pan-Hellenic Council and national Student Speech, Language and Hearing Association. She was nominated by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and will be escorted by her father Alvin Jones.
Valarie Navarro, the daughter of Les and Tina Navarro, is a senior nursing major from Haughton. Navarro’s activities and honors include Kappa Delta Sorority, Presidential Student Leadership Scholar, Student Nurse’s Association, Maroon Platoon and American Red Cross Volunteer. She was nominated by Kappa Delta and Warhawk Baseball and will be escorted by her father, Les Navarro.
Laura Tarver, the daughter of Phillip and Deborah Tarver, is a senior biology major from Pineville. Tarver’s activities and honors include Phi Mu, PREP leader, Campus Activities Board and Maroon Platoon. She was nominated by Phi Mu and Campus Activities Board and will be escorted by her father, Phillip Tarver.
Andrew Smith, the son of Roland and Barbara Smith, is a senior accounting major from Natchitoches. Smith’s activities and honors include Big Brother Big Sister Advisory Board, Alpha Phi Alpha president, 31 Ambassadors and SGA. He was nominated by 31 Ambassadors and Alpha Phi Alpha and will be escorted by his mother, Barbara Smith.
