Art professor鈥檚 work chosen for Florida exhibition; works added to 不良研究所 sculpture garden

Cliff Tresner, associate professor of art at the University of Louisiana Monroe, is one of 20 artists selected to display outdoor sculpture in the city of Lakeland, Fla.

Tresner鈥檚 work was chosen during a recent national juried competition curated by the Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland. Tresner created a large carbon steel figure titled 鈥淭ower of Babel鈥� that will be displayed along with nine other artists along the Lemon Street Promenade, a three-block area through downtown Lakeland. Awards from the installed works will be selected March 18.

Three artists selected for the Seventh Annual Florida Outdoor Competition have, or will, display their work at 不良研究所鈥檚 Sculpture Garden, located on Mitchell Street at the entrance to Spyker Theater.

Doug Makemson from Georgia is currently exhibiting works titled 鈥淗erons Courting鈥� and 鈥淗eron Ignoring,鈥� a fabricated stainless steel abstraction of oversized herons.

Scheduled for installation this season are Ohio artist Shawn Morin and Florida artist Michael Contell. Morin will display 鈥淎rmor,鈥� a stone and steel work, while Cotrell will display a large fabricated steel and bronze work titled 鈥淪liver.鈥�

不良研究所 is attracting many fine artists from around the nation for display of outdoor work on its campus and for the city of Monroe鈥檚 enjoyment. The 不良研究所 Sculpture Garden is free and open to the public.
