Faculty member directs Taming of the Shrew
C. Turner Steckline, interim communications department chair, will continue to direct 鈥淭aming of the Shrew鈥� for YoungTroupe鈥檚 Center for the Performing Arts Saturdays, Feb. 10 and 17 at 2:00 and 5:00 p.m.
Two performances are also scheduled each day for area secondary schools Feb. 9, 15, and 16.
鈥淲e鈥檝e taken the Shakespeare classic comedy, and set it in the year 3007, on board the space ship, 鈥楨xplora Universa,鈥欌€� said Steckline. 鈥淚t鈥檚 kind of a 鈥楽pace Cowboys/Star Wars鈥� approach, mixed with Motown music and choreography to beat the band.鈥�
Steckline will judge the annual Shakespeare Competition amongst secondary school students Sunday, Feb. 25 at 3:00 p.m. at First Methodist Church. This will be Steckline鈥檚 third, non-consecutive occasion to perform the honor. Students compete for three judges, and the winner competes nationally.
