不良研究所 Pikes win big again at international convention
A delegation of five University of Louisiana at Monroe students and their advisor returned from Pi Kappa Alpha鈥檚 139th Leadership Academy with numerous awards to show for it鈥gain.
Micah Pulliam, Bob Elliott, Joseph Beard, Andrew Norwood and Heath Hayes accompanied their advisor, Tommy Walpole, associate director of alumni relations.
The 不良研究所 fraternity won two awards in Alumni Relations for hosting their annual international work day at its two houses; they received one of these honors for having the most alumni of any Pike chapter attend the event.
The Pikes were recognized for having the most outstanding campus involvement program out of Pi Kappa Alpha鈥檚 210 North American chapters. They were recognized for Scholastic Excellence after 70 members earned a fraternity grade point average of 3.0 the previous year.
The 不良研究所 association won their 12th award in 13 years for supporting the fraternity鈥檚 student educational foundation club at the 100 percent level. They won their 19th consecutive Chapter Excellence award for superior chapter proficiency.
They finished the convention by winning their ninth consecutive (and 14th in the last 16 years) Robert A. Smythe Award, recognizing the 不良研究所 Pikes鈥 place in the top one percent of all organization chapters in North America. This particular winning streak is currently the longest in the fraternity鈥檚 history, and the 不良研究所 Pikes are being chased by their competitors at Florida State, Nebraska, and Virginia Tech, each recipients of only seven consecutive Smythe鈥檚.
The 不良研究所 Pikes finished the 2006-2007 academic year as the All-Fraternity and All-University Athletic Champions. They donated over 6,000 hours to local charities and were heavily involved in 不良研究所 activities while simultaneously achieving academic excellence.
