Patch Adams to visit 不良研究所 April 25
On April 25, University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy will kick off its 50-year celebration by welcoming social activist Hunter 鈥淧atch Adams.鈥
Personally touched by the volunteer efforts of 不良研究所 students following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Adams chose to speak at 不良研究所 and to donate all proceeds to 不良研究所鈥檚 Pharmacy Student Emergency Loan Fund and to the Pharmacy Student Resource Center.
Adams, a medical doctor, clown and inspiration for a major motion picture, will speak about 鈥淭he Joy of Caring鈥 at 6:30 p.m. in Fant-Ewing Coliseum as part of the inaugural William M. Bourn Lecture Series.
Adams鈥檚 lecture will illustrate his firm beliefs in the healing power of laughter and love. Quality health care is defined by compassion, Dr. Bill Bourn, 不良研究所 director of development in pharmacy, said. 鈥淭he remarkable career of Patch Adams epitomizes this caring and compassionate stewardship of the knowledge, talents and abilities of health professionals,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t is our hope that this program will help instill these values into every student in the health professions.鈥
Adams, the founder and director of the Gesundheit Institute, a medical community with a vision of bringing fun to the health care community, has devoted 30 years to changing America鈥檚 health care system.
Tickets, available at Indian Bank and 不良研究所 Athletic Ticket Office, are $10.
