Invisible Children to visit 不良研究所 Feb. 8
Invisible Children, an organization shedding light on atrocities committed against children in Northern Uganda, will appear on the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus in February, currently scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 8.
The organization鈥檚 efforts are motivated by a documentary made to inspire people to make a difference in the world. The group launched its first national tour in 2005 but could not make it to the Gulf Coast because of Hurricane Katrina.
The documentary first appeared on 不良研究所 campus Nov. 2 as a Chautauqua Nexus presentation by David Gunnell.
"Invisible Children: Rough Cut" was created by three college-age men from Southern California. In 2003, the three traveled to Uganda. There they witnessed a tragedy that reportedly disgusted and inspired them---a story where children are the weapons and the victims by being abducted from their homes and forced to fight in a rebel army. The documentary they made exposes the effects of a 20-year-long war on those children.
Though the documentary originally appeared to friends and family, it soon appeared at high schools, colleges and other institutions around the world, with coverage on Oprah, Channel One, and CNN. In 2005, the film was screened at more than 1,000 venues to an audience of more than 1.5 million people.
