Students in the College of Health Sciences Receive Awards

Students in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe were honored at awards ceremonies held at the close of the Spring semester.

Receiving awards in the Doctor of Pharmacy Class of May 2005 were Rebecca E. Flynn, Lilly Achievement Award and the Perrigo Company Award of Excellence in Non-Prescription Medication Studies; Merck and Company Awards for Excellence in the Basic Sciences went to Anna M. Brooks in Medicinal Chemistry and Brandon Moore in Pharmaceutics; Daphne M. Primeaux, GlaxoSmithKline Patient Care Award; Christina Tuberville, APhA-ASP Mortar and Pestle Professionalism Award; Janeca N. Foster, Roche Pharmacy Communications Award and the Facts and Comparisons Award of Excellence in Clinical Communications; Kristopher C. Hobgood, TEVA Pharmaceuticals USA Student Award; and Selina Chee, the Albert P. Lauve Memorial Award, the Mylan Pharmaceuticals Excellence in Pharmacy Award, and the American Pharmacists Association Award Senior Recognition Certificate.

Receiving awards in the School of Pharmacy were Rahul Manek and Wenzhan Yang, the Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences Graduate Student Research Award; Shravanthi Gandra, the Department of Clinical and Administrative Sciences Graduate Student Research Award; and Sachin S. Devi, the Department of Toxicology Graduate Student Research Award. Students receiving First Professional Year Achievement Awards were Courtney L. Bailey, Laura A. Eubanks, Lauren O. Good, Ashley N. Jones, Brian M. Lee and Joshua C. Miller. Kappa Epsilon received the Faculty Scholastic Recognition Award.

Graduating seniors in the School of Nursing receiving awards were Amy Cheek, the Sigma Theta Tau Award for highest grade point average; Dustin Gross and Shanda Lewis, Faculty Awards; and Stacy King and Renita Bryant, Peer Awards.

Clinical Laboratory Science students receiving the John D. Ramsey Memorial Award were Emily Myers, Jarred Harrington, Susan Williamson and Taneika Vaughn. Students inducted into the Beta Delta Chapter of National Lambda Tau, a professional clinical laboratory science honor society were Kimberly Barrett, Catherine Cooper, Courtnei Gabriel, Callee Gwin, Pratima Kumari, Brian McCarty, Emily Myers, Crystal Powell, Ne'Dra Swancy and Alicia Traxler.

Communicative Disorders students receiving awards were Astero Charostia, Most Promising Undergraduate Award and NSSLHA Undergraduate Scholarship Award; Lynsey Luke, Most Promising Graduate Clinician Award; Stephanie Wright, Graduate Clinician of the Year Award; Betsey Holloway, Award of Excellence in Communicative Disorders; Jennifer Martin, NSSLHA Student Honors for 2005; and Grace Lard, NSSLHA Graduate Scholarship Award and the George Moses Graduate Scholarship. Receiving scholarships were Connie Danielle Blades, the Lawrence Danna Scholarship; Natalie Keen, the Lynn R. Moore Scholarship; Amber Harrison, the Sertoma Scholarship; and Andrew Pierce, the George Moses Undergraduate Scholarship.

Dental Hygiene students receiving awards were Carley Carter, the Scholastic Achievement Award and the Ark-La-Miss Specialties Award; Carmen Cross, the Louisiana Dental Hygienists Association Outstanding Student Award and the Dr. James L. Padgett Award; Shandi Landry, the Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler Award; Amber Bertrand, Clinical Excellence Award; Alison Cormier and Ashley Fletcher, Alpha Eta-Allied Health Honor Society Award; Bonnie Graham and Kambria Hampton, Sigma Phi Alpha-Dental Hygiene Honor Society Award; Joanna Peters, Senior Student Professionalism Award and the American Association of Public Health Award; Margo Waller, Junior Student Professionalism Award; Sara Johns, Procter and Gamble Preventive Oral Health Award; Genee Viator, Colgate STAR Award; and Sunni Goodwin and Daisy Poole, 不良研究所 Faculty Award.
Occupational Therapy students receiving awards were Lauren Sanders, Alpha Eta Award and the Scholastic Achievement Award; Abby Johns, Scholastic Achievement Award; Ashley Eskew, Outstanding Occupational Therapy Assisting Student Award; and Krystal Fleming and Ashley Tillery, Clinical Award.
Receiving the Mallinckrodt Award, a national award given to an outstanding student in Radiologic Technology, was Jason Courtney.
