Students Receive $5,000 Stipend for Child Welfare Work

The Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Project at 不良研究所 is a program to encourage undergraduate social work students to prepare for a public child welfare career. 不良研究所 is one of seven universities in the state who offer this special training program. Students who participate are selected annually on a competitive basis. Once selected, they receive a $5,000 annual stipend, and are required to apply for the Social Services Specialist Intern position upon graduation to fulfill a one-year work requirement.

One student selected, Jeanine Brown, attended the Council on Social Work Education conference in Anaheim California, at her own cost and volunteered as a student helper at the conference for free registration. Brown also visited a welfare office in Compton and a housing project in Watts, in Los Angeles County, as part of a social work directed study.
