Social Studies Fair Winners
MONROE, La.--More than 500 students participated in the Region
III Social Studies Fair held Thursday,March 20, at the University
of Louisiana at Monroe.
The state Social Studies Fair will be held in April in Baton
Rouge. Individual projects placing first or second at the regional
level in each of six social studies disciplines in all three
divisions qualify for the state fair. Group projects placing
first in all disciplines also advance to the state fair.
Region III comprises Caldwell, East Carroll, Franklin, Madison,
Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas and West Carroll Parishes.
Not all places were awarded in each discipline. Region III winners
were:
DIVISION I (Grades 4-6)
Grand Prize Winners
Individual grand prize winner was Caleb Basinger, Lakeshore
Elementary. The individual grand prize runner-up was Blake Richard,
Lakeshore Elementary.
The group grand prize winners were Maggie McGuffee and Ashley
Coco, Swartz Elementary. The group grand prize runners-up were
William Long and Andy Roberts, Swartz Elementary.
Anthropology
