Official Statement
The University of Louisiana at Monroe has lost one of its most valued treasures today. Mrs. Mary Ellen Walker's memory will be preserved, however, through the many good works that she accomplished both during her time as First Lady of 不良研究所 and in the years since when her support, together with that of President Emeritus Dr. George Walker, has been critical to the institution.
Although Deborah and I did not have the opportunity to get to know Mrs. Walker personally, we nevertheless have been made aware of the tremendous impact that her quiet but energetic devotion to this University has had. We were deeply saddened to learn of her passing, and have asked that all persons associated with 不良研究所 join us in remembering her as well as President Walker and their family in prayer.
I have ordered University flags to fly at half-mast immediately, and to remain there in salute to this gracious lady until the day following her burial. This will be but one outward sign of the tremendous respect with which she is regarded by all of those who have been associated with this institution.
