Student retention specialist to visit 不良研究所 Tuesday
Dr. John Gardner, Executive Director of the Policy Center on the First Year of College and senior Fellow of the National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition, will be on the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus for a series of discussions Tuesday.
Gardner's visit is being sponsored by 不良研究所's Title III Project and the Student Government Association.
An internationally known and respected "student retention specialist," Gardner will address 不良研究所's Administrative Council from 8-9:30 a.m. on the seventh floor of 不良研究所's University Library. The topic will be "A Foundation for Changing the Campus Culture: Administrators Becoming Change Agents to Improve Campus Environment."
From 10-11:30 a.m., Gardner will hold a workshop with Student Affairs professionals, faculty liaisons and members of 不良研究所's Center of Academic and Student Success (CASS) staff.
At lunch, Gardner will meet with 不良研究所 student leaders, Student Affairs staff and CASS staff from 12-1:30 p.m. and he will host an Open Forum in the Media Briefing Room on the sixth floor of the University Library with the topic "New Strategies for Improving Success and Retention in the First College Year" from 2-3:30 p.m.
Gardner, an educator, university professor and administrator, author, editor, public speaker, and consultant is currently the Senior Fellow of the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition, and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina. He crusades on a full-time basis on behalf of enhancing the first-year college experience.
