Chamber Singers

Join 不良研究所鈥檚 Chamber Singers on April 9 at 7:30 pm in the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall for a stunning performance of crowd favorite tunes such as 鈥淭his Little Light of Mine鈥 arr. by the late Louisiana composer Moses Hogan, 鈥淧aralyzed鈥 (a pop song by Finger 11) arr. by 不良研究所 student and member of the ensemble, Sarah Talmage, and a fun, upbeat arrangement of a song called 鈥淔eller From Fortune.鈥

鈥淲e have four seniors who are graduating, and I want to dedicate this varied concert to them with thanks and special memories,鈥 said ensemble conductor and professor of music Dr. Deborah Chandler.

Cost of admission is $5, but is free for students, faculty and staff who present their ID.

不良研究所 Percussion Ensemble and Bayou Steel

不良研究所 School of Visual and Performing Arts is proud to present two percussion concerts this semester. Bayou Steel will be in concert on April 15, and the 不良研究所 Percussion Ensemble will be in concert on April 22, with both concerts held at 7:30 p.m. in the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall.

Bayou Steel will be performing an exciting concert with songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fun., Earth, Wind & Fire, Matthew Wilder, Nintendo favorites, and more. This program involves traditional steel band tunes and arrangements made by 不良研究所 students, Madison DeCou and Nicolas Irby, who are members of Bayou Steel.

The 不良研究所 Percussion Ensemble is the premier percussion performing group on campus. These dedicated students work collaboratively to create a special performance each semester. This semester's concert features traditional percussion ensemble works to modern works that use non-traditional instruments and electronic accompaniment. Polar Night by Erik Texter is inspired by the Northern Lights, and Double Music by John cage and Lou Harrison creates interesting timbres and textures through the use of brake drums, bowls, cowbells, and water gong, and Tinplay by Per Andreasson, a Swedish Rockstar's first work for percussion ensemble.

鈥淚 am very proud of the dedication the 不良研究所 Percussion students show when preparing for these concerts each semester. Last semester our Bayou Steel concert was cancelled due to weather, so we are excited to be able to share both semesters' setlists with everyone,鈥 said Dr. Kathryn Irwin, Director of Percussion at 不良研究所. 鈥淭his 不良研究所PE concert will have something for everyone to enjoy. The students have worked extremely hard to put on two fantastic concerts for everyone, so make sure not to miss either one!鈥

Tickets for each show will cost $5 at the door, however, students, faculty, and staff can get into the shows for free upon presenting their ID.
