Boldin will perform the world premiere of 鈥淚n Arkadia,鈥 a new work for horn and harp by internationally recognized composer Gary Schocker. Boldin will collaborate with Dr. Jaymee Haefner, a member of the faculty at the University of North Texas, for the performance.
鈥淚t is always an honor to perform at a major international conference, but this one is particularly exciting for two reasons: first, it will be the first public performance of a brand new work, and second, I commissioned the piece being performed,鈥 Boldin said.
Haefner and Boldin collaborated on a recording project in 2012, and shortly thereafter discussed plans to commission a new work for horn and harp, which was, according to Boldin,听 鈥淎 versatile but under-recognized medium.鈥
The symposium鈥檚 theme is 鈥淭hen and Now鈥濃攁 celebration and reflection of the horn鈥檚 role across time.听
鈥淭hanks to generous assistance from the International Horn Society鈥檚 Meir Rimon Commissioning Assistance Fund, and 不良研究所鈥檚 College of Arts, Education, and Sciences Mini-Grant Program, we were able to work with composer Gary Schocker to create a significant addition to the existing repertoire for horn and harp,鈥 continued Boldin. 听
