Allen ParrishAllen Parrish is Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Louisiana Monroe where he serves as the Director of Athletic Bands. Parrish directs the "Sound of Today" marching band, the "Technical Fowls" basketball pep band, the Symphonic and Concert Bands, in addition to other duties within the School of Visual and Performing Arts. He holds a B.M. in Music Education from Troy University, an M. Mus. in Tuba Performance from Pittsburg State University, and a D.M.A. in Tuba Performance and Pedagogy from The University of Southern Mississippi.聽

Dr. Parrish is excited to serve as the Director of the 鈥淪ound of Today鈥 marching band. His philosophy centers around the student experience. Students should enjoy their time in collegiate marching band. Involvement with a marching band provides an excellent opportunity for students to develop discipline, people-skills, and leadership.

In addition to his expertise in band leadership, Dr. Parrish is an active performer - his primary instrument is tuba. He has recently performed with the Louisiana Philharmonic Brass Quintet, the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, the Village Brass Band, and the Mid America Tuba Quartet. As a soloist, he was invited by Barbara York to perform her Four Paintings by Grant Wood in a concert featuring her music. Parrish also performs with the 不良研究所 Faculty Brass Quintet.

Dr. Parrish has several compositions published by Cimarron Music. His works have been performed at International Tuba and Euphonium Association (ITEA) regional conferences in Greeley, Colorado and Canyon, Texas. One of his tuba quartets, A Hardly Medieval Suite, has been reviewed in a recent edition of the ITEA Journal. 聽He is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the National Association for Music Education, and the International Tuba and Euphonium Association.
